Beef, Broccoli & Random Veg Stir Fry

Beef, Broccoli and Random Veg Stir Fry

Ingredients

500 – 750g lean sirloin steak

2 tbsp cornflour divided up

¼ tsp salt

1 tbsp sesame oil

2 garlice cloves finely chopped

150ml water

150ml veggie stock

75ml dark soy sauce

Generous handful of broccoli florets

Selection of other veg – green bean, carrot, onion, etc, whatever you fancy

Method

Slice the steak into 0.5cm thick strips, against the grain of the meat to help keep it tender

Put the beef strips in a bowl, add the salt and 1 tbsp of the cornflour. Mix until the beef is well coated

Heat the sesame oil in a large wok over a medium high heat

Add the beef to the wok and stir fry for about 4 minutes until the beef is browned all sides

Take the beef out of the wok and put to one side in a bowl

Add the chopped garlic to the wok and cook for 1 minute

Add the water, broccoli and other veg to the wok and cook for 4 or 5 minutes or until the veg is starting to get slightly tender

Mix the remaining 1 tbsp of cornflour in a bowl with the veggie stock and soy sauce. Add this and the beef back into the wok. Cook for 2 or 3 minutes more until the sauce has thickened

Serve with rice and optionally garnished with toasted sesame seeds
