Think of almost any programming language, and odds are there's a way of coding in that language under Linux. I'm certainly no code warrior myself, but I'm pretty competent with Python and GNU Bash scripting. I've done a miniscule amount of work in plain 'C', mostly maintaining other peoples code rather than inventing my own stuff, but that's it. I keep trying to get my head round Perl, but there's something about the way my brain is wired which makes it simply refuse to accept most of the syntactical rules applicable to Perl scripts. Something that all developers need is a good editor. Whilst vim (vi Improved) is great for small jobs that require no more than one or two scripts, I've been using Anjuta v1.2.1 for most of my coding tasks recently. It's a fully fledged development environment, with most of the features a coder needs. I've got a few pages of stuff that I've either written or am in the process of writing:
